Painting the town red.....

This is my inspiration room. I was trying to figure out how to mix white furniture, appliances and trim with red and black and TOILE!!!! I found that there are other people out there who think like I do!!! Scary huh?
What a mess!

Been painting all day! Whew! Now that is red is it not? Behr's Ruby Ring!! The stove is going to be traded out for a white one. The stove hood will either be traded out for a white microwave or painted white too! I made the valance for the window over the sink yesterday. Toile as in the picture above ;-)
The painting over wallpaper turned out easier than I thought it would be. I googled how to do it and was recommended to use oil based primer. I hatedusing oil based anything until now. I tried Kilz Odorless Primer that was oil based. Wow Good Stuff!!! Highly recommend it to anyone. It was as thick as pudding and covered well. Still dried in about 30 minutes too!!
Today was just the start of a lot of painting. Kinda a drop in the bucket!
Good news ....the septic system is in too!!! The boys worked so hard today too!!

My new shabby bedroom set.....

Remember the before picture in the previous post?
It's amazing what a couple ounces of paint can do!

I love the detail on this bed.

How about the detail here?

They were not intended to be a set but I think it's a perfect match. $100 for the set too!! These will be in my yellow room. I need to find a sweet little bedside table and the furniture for the room will be complete. I have yellow toile for curtains to be made. I have also purchased a yellow and white chenille bedspread from ebay for the bed. I already made a gorgeous, if I do say so myself, shabby patchwork and chenille bed pillow. (I need to get a pic of it.) The kind that sell on ebay for about $75 for one pillow. I found out why yesterday when I went to Joanne Fabrics to purchase some more pillow forms. Way too pricey for this frugal chic. I'll just make my own out of muslin and polyfil. At least the polyfil was on sale ;-)

There's a lot going on around here....

Well it is so much going on that it is taking me a whole lot longer than I thought to get my furniture ready for pictures. In the last post I told you I had been shopping. Well this great bed came home on my truck, along with many other pieces. I have been painting on this off and on since then, but like I said lack of time!!! It is looking great though. And to think the bed was only $55. What a steal!! Maybe I will have pictures soon.

-----

I am not sure if I have mentioned to you before but I love me some Craigslist!!! I have found many treasures and sold a few also thru CL. I actually have now found my best deal yet on CL. A wonderful sectional sofa w/ recliner and sleeper!!!! Blue and an hour from my home....also help provided to haul it down from a third story appartment!! The best part......drum roll please ......... it was FREE!!! I met the nicest young couple too. We have offered them a free weekend at The Fairy's Rest in turn for the great deal on our end!!
-----
We finally have the mobile home set permanently! Whoo wooo!!! It's been a long time coming. We finished this on Saturday and have the septic system almost finished too. Won't be long now I hope. I plan to have the place ready for fall tourist season. The change of seasons here in SW Virgina leads to a fabulous showplace of the prettiest leaves imaginable. I have always wanted to see Philpott Lake in the autumn, while all the leaves were full of color, by boat. For some reason it just hasn't worked out yet. Maybe this will be the year for you and me too!! Won't you come join me? I'll bring plenty of hot cocoa!! Maybe some Pumpkin Muffins?? See ya there!

Treasure hunting.......

Treasures found! I have been collecting vintage embroidered pillowcases for over a year now.
I have some really great ones that I have spent VERY LITTLE money on.

These pictures just don't even do them justice.

They are all in really great shape and are a really really great cotton. You know the ones that feel like silk on your face!

The colors are so vivid in person.

These are for the lavender room. An exact color match. I knew they would come in handy one of these days. I will use these on the beds at The Fairy's Rest. If they get soiled or ripped it will not be a big crime because of the tiny amount of money that I have in each one. I think my guests will like to lay their head down at night on any of these vintage beauties!!

I want my guest to feel that they do not have to bring everything but the kitchen sink for their stay here. If they have small children they will have to carry enough of their house along anyway. I found this JUST LIKE NEW Fisher Price highchair at a yard sale this weekend!!! I am now looking for a portable crib. These items can be folded and tucked in a closet out of the way and should really come in handy when needed!!!!

Babies wanted!! Bring em on!!
